Dear Amelia,
A year ago I was in a hospital room with your momma laughing at the crazy Rachel Ray show while we waited for you to make your arrival. While I missed the actual event (a fact that makes the both of us happy. there are somethings sisters and aunts don't really need to see) I have loved you since before you were born. Your mom and I went to see a movie before you were born and she showed me this incredible ultra sound - there you were! I wanted to show the people waiting in the popcorn line with me... but realized they probably didn't really care as much as I thought they should.
The next day I went to the hospital to see you for the first time and I was so scared to hold you - you were so little - But you have made up for that now. It's so fun to see the little person you are, the funny faces you make and the joy you bring. I think you are a little old soul at times and I really look forward to seeing the person you will become as you age.
I hope that you always know how much you are loved. I may come across as snarky at times - but that's just how I am, I wouldn't be that way if I didn't like you.
But I digress - While I wasn't there the actual night I was at the yearly Lions Club Show where your Papaw led about 500 people in singing Happy Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday Amelia! I love you.
Just thought I would totally cop out on blogging today and share one of my favorite music videos with you. I adore Christopher Walkin and if you don't follow him on twitter you totally should. It's a little overcast here today - so I hope this brightens up your day just a little bit.
I haven't provided a proper shout out yet to my other blog. But thought since I have a ton of time this morning I would do just that.
The Girls in Hoods
Just thought I would share.
If money didn't matter, what job would you most like to have?
Submitted by Rainbird.
I would be an opera singing, card making buisness owner. I would make a living making things simply pretty. I would inspire others to send cards and thoughful gifts. And I would have this amazing shop that would be a gift boutique in the front with a work space by an open window where I would make cards and greet customers, a used cozy book shop in the back - with specality books and cozy armchairs and coffee always going. With occassional book readings and the best book club in the area. I would have a great desk where I would write daily musings posting to my blog and the world of readers that follow me daily for inspiration and perhaps a smile. And an amazing loft type apartment upstairs or at least on the same peice of land with a baby grand I would play with on my day off. That would be my dream job.
Come on ladies!!!! we are almost there.
What are your points?
Share something activity based you did this week... Would love some inspiration.
Wed I took a lovely random day off just because I could and in the line of work I do, sometimes I need a day away so i I can refresh and return renewed. I lazed around that morning and bought new tags for my car, had a tailight replaced and then went to moms and deidre's were we headed to Nashville for lunch and general bumming around. I thought I would share a few pics with you from the day.
Lunch was at House of Siam - a great thai resturaunt
Deidre and Mom and I were all able to eat well within our different dietary needs.
She decided that she likes it. It was a beef noodle dish.
I had a great tofu dish with curry. It was spicy and delicious. And obviously all gone by the time I remembered to snap a picture of mine. Mom was also able to have an eggplant dish that was glutan free and safe for her. We were properly stuffed when we left and then wandered to Haus of Yarn.
Mom LOVES the yarn shoppe on White Bridge and I LOVE the items she makes from there. Always fun to look there and to see mom enjoy the shopping.
Then we went to Edgehill and enjoyed the super trendy spot it is. I bought... you probably already guessed - BUBBLE TEA. originaly yummy bubble tea from a bubble tea shop. I had a cake batter smoothie - it's a combination of sesame and almond.
We also went into the kitchen store there and picked up a few items from their 40% off sale. Mom bought a cold water coffee concentrate brewer, which I think she has really enjoyed and is making great iced coffee's at home now.
All in all a great day off. Totally refreshed me for the week with clients and paperwork.
I am never home, Just an observation brought to you today from my random mind. Between work, friends, walking, tutoring and wonderful family happenings - I am basically only home to sleep. I have created this space that is wonderful, I love my decor and furnishings. But I really never see them. Not a complaint, this doesn't really bother me, but perhaps having a great space has inspired me to get out more and do more and simply be more. It's interesting that when I was in a house that wasn't ideal I was home all the time and now that I'm in a space that I love I am never here... Do I make any sense at all?
Oh well, glad you caught me for a moment - I'm off to walk and won't be home until the end of the day.
Sometimes I'm a flake and it's okay I know it. I try to remember to do what I say I am going to do though. I try to follow through on most things, especially the big things that concern people. So that being said... please stop making pretend plans with me and falling off the face of the earth, or forgetting, or falling asleep, or just changing your mind. I know you have an important life as well... You may even think of yours as more important than mine and thats OK.. but I respect your time by showing up and being on time. All I ask is that you do the same.
That being said, I'm done, finished and throwing in the towell. I am not putting myself on the line to only be let down. I have feeling as well. I get excited about things to do... I look forward to different events just like you do. Or perhaps you don't and that is why my time is so very expendable.
Okay that's it and I'm done. Stepping off my soap box for today and pushing it back under the desk for no one to see. Send them love... and erasing the chalk off the board.
What's your favorite thing about springtime?
I am in love with spring this year. The crisp air in the morning the nice porch sitting in the afternoon. Ridding with the windows down and your hair whipping around while you sing to the raido. Sunglasses perched on top of my head while I sit outside and have lunch with a friend. I am enjoying this season more than I have before, because as the world around me has rewoken I feel as though I'm doing the same. I feel fresh and refreshed and with a new start that will only get better as the months progress.
I really want this hat. I tried it on Saturday and while I am not a hat person - I looked really cute in it. However the large was too big for my head so... I think I will treat myself after I complete our first 5k.
Check it out and tell me what you think... trust me - it looks alot cuter on me. Rei Cap
